Outside hours, leave a message and we'll triage as soon as the office opens. For severe medical symptoms, head to the ER.

This page is for the people already in our care.

House Dental isn't a 24/7 emergency clinic — it's a small Arcadia practice that takes care of its patients when something goes wrong.

If you're an existing patient, your first call is to us. We know your history, we have your imaging, and we'll figure out the right next step together. Same-week appointments are usually possible when something is genuinely urgent.

If you're a new patient with a complex problem — a failed implant, chronic pain that no one has been able to diagnose, dental work that didn't hold — the right starting point is a thorough first visit, not an emergency slot. That's where the real answers come from.

If you're a dentist with a patient whose case has outgrown your practice, Dr. House welcomes urgent referrals. Call the office and we'll coordinate.

Four situations that need a faster response.

What follows is general guidance for House Dental patients. If you're unsure, call us — we'd rather hear from you sooner than later.

Situation 01

Severe pain or visible swelling.

Throbbing pain that wakes you up at night. A swollen cheek or jaw. Pain when you bite down on a tooth. These usually point to infection or a cracked tooth, and the longer they wait, the worse they get.

What to do: Call the office during hours. If you also have fever, difficulty swallowing, or facial swelling that's spreading, head to the ER first — that combination can be a medical emergency.

Situation 02

Knocked-out or fractured tooth.

If a tooth has been knocked out completely, the next 30 to 60 minutes matter. If a tooth is cracked or fractured but still in place, get to the office as soon as we can see you.

What to do: Pick the tooth up by the crown (not the root). Rinse it gently with milk or saline if it's dirty. If you can, place it back in the socket. If not, put it in a small container of milk (not water). Then call us immediately.

Situation 03

Lost crown, broken bridge, or fallen-out filling.

Uncomfortable, but rarely a true medical emergency. The exposed tooth is sensitive to hot, cold, and sweet. Eating becomes awkward. The biggest risk is the surrounding teeth shifting before the restoration can be replaced.

What to do: Save the crown, bridge, or filling if you have it — we may be able to recement the original. Avoid hard or sticky foods on that side. Call the office to schedule the next available appointment.

Situation 04

Trauma to the jaw or significant bleeding.

Falls, accidents, sports injuries, or any blow to the face that's caused jaw pain, difficulty opening or closing your mouth, or bleeding that won't slow down with steady pressure.

What to do: Go to the emergency room first. They can rule out a fracture and stabilize the bleeding. Once the immediate medical issue is handled, call us so Dr. House can plan the dental side of recovery — usually with cone beam imaging to assess what was affected.

  1. Step 01

    You tell us what happened.

When the symptoms started. What changed. Whether you've taken anything for the pain. Whether there was an injury. The more specific the better — it helps us decide how quickly you need to be seen.

  2. Step 02

    We look at your record.

For existing patients, we already have your X-rays, your medical history, and your treatment notes. For urgent referrals, we coordinate with your current dentist to get the imaging and notes we need before you arrive.

  3. Step 03

    We make room.

Same-week appointments are usually possible when something is genuinely urgent. If we can't see you fast enough — or if your situation needs a hospital, an oral surgeon, or another specialist — we'll tell you that directly and help connect you to the right person.

  4. Step 04

You come in. We figure it out.

Even an emergency visit gets the diagnostic-first treatment. We'd rather take 20 extra minutes to understand why something failed than fix it twice. The goal isn't just to make the pain stop — it's to make sure it doesn't come back.

Relief when you need it most.

Same-day care for the urgent problem and its cause.
